#36: Justice League Movie Review, JLA, The Kids are at the Planetarium

Hey gang! This week it’s finally here…The Justice League movie! Stew and Dave do a complete breakdown of the movie, and there’s a SPOILER REVIEW and a NON SPOILER REVIEW. So grab a cup of cocoa and a cut a rug, folks!

We also discuss JLA Vol 1 by Grant Morrision, in an in-depth exploration of one of Dave’s favourite comic runs. We also cover more reports on the Fox-Disney deal, break down the Doctor’s new costume, Stew gives us all a MASTERCLASS on Morris the Living Vampire, and Dave pitches widely for a show with Punisher, Ghost Rider and BLADE rolling around a crime-ridden LA in a battle-van! Stew has his own thoughts of course…

We discuss Quentin Tarantino’s new movie set against the background of the Manson Family murders, we take a shot at the piece of human scum that is Eddie Berganza, Michael Keloisim weighs in, and J DOG writes in with an AWESOME EMAIL ABOUT ALIENS AND THE PYRAMID…and Stew is unsettled!

Also, a classic Connor story from our friends at Into the Knight and don’t forget…The Kids are at the Planetarium FOREVER!

#35: JLA: A Midsummer’s Nightmare, Bendis to DC, Conan vs Tolkien!

Hey gang! Stew and Dave are back, on Week 1 of our JUSTICE LEAGUE SPECIAL! This week we discuss Mark Waid and Fabian Nicieza’s “JLA: A Midsummer’s Nightmare”, a great Justice League comic from 1996!

Also, it’s “imagine if Dave had a soul week”, as he continues his one man war on the Internet, while still battling the remnants of his flu, and the BIG NEWS OF THE WEEK is two-fold! 1) Brian Michael Bendis is leaving Marvel for DC, which leads to Stew and Dave pitching books for him to write at DC, and then in MORE BIG NEWS there’s talk of Disney potentially acquiring the Fox movie library for their upcoming streaming service, along with the IP’s of properties such as X-Men and Fantastic Four!

Elsewhere the boys break into a spirited debate about the merits of Conan, and Dave has to advise Stew on the greatness of Robert E Howard! Then, we discuss the potential news that the Tolkien estate may be looking to close a deal for a Lord of the Rings TV series with Amazon! This leads to some heavily geeky discussion of what this could mean in terms of story potential.

In RED ALERT we have some great Justice League information from our normal Marvel encyclopaedia Drew Geraci, who talks about Justice League of America 200, and also details his experience on JLA and his favourite period!

Sorry but in the last half hour of the show there is some echo affect after something went wrong – it’s definitely listenable but I apologise for the inconvenience!

ALL THIS AND MORE ON SIGNAL OF DOOM!

#34: Scalped, Sick Davey, Voids in Pyramids

Hey gang, get ready for a journey into THE DARKNESS OF MEN’S SOULS, as the boys read Scalped, the Vertigo cult crime-drama classic by Jason Aaron & R.M. Guera, and Dave and the Main Man go deep on the RESERVATION! It’s a long, bitter powerful cup of black coffee this time! Hold the SUGAR!

Also, Stew and Dave go deep in the Star Wars teaser, Justice League rumours, the solo-centric spotlights on Batman, Wonder Woman Thor Ragnarok box office numbers, while the Signal’s own Marvel Encyclopaedia, Drew Geraci, writes in to detail what signifies the Silver Age, the Bronze Age and the Modern Age!

Dave is also obsessed by the mysterious VOID that has been located in the Giza Pyramid, and Stew refuses to accept this is probably filled with alien husks!

We talk more SHAZAM, and then speculate wildly on Flashpoint. There’s a Deathstroke movie to discuss, and both Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot (aka Wonder Woman herself!) have been very open and honest about the status and recent past of the Warner’s DC movies.

Meanwhile, Tessa Thompson and the editing of the LGBT scene in Thor is discussed, and Dave gets overly excited and starts comparing Tessa to RDJ himself in terms of her awesomeness and importance to Marvel going forward. As Dave begins to cast her in multiple movies, Stew attempts to calm hm down.

RED ALERT and Punisher Playbook both feature in a SYNCHRONISED SECTION and shoutout to Michael Keloisim for another awesome email! Plus WEEKLY comics! All this and MORE on this weeks episode of Signal of DOOM!
